Artists Wishing to Apply as Our In-House Illustrator

• Are willing to work with kind, supportive, and wise authors
• Are able to set reasonable deadlines and meet those deadlines
• Are willing to sign and honor a contract with the publishing house
• Understand that writing and illustrating are inspired endeavors, but publishing is a business
• Can follow specific instructions as to how an illustration should look on a page (6"by9", color or B&W, specific media, etc.)
• Can say no to the author when the illustration is just not possible, and offer suggestions on how to rectify the situation

• Will be given a web page to advertise their freelance work (as long as it remains ST.E acceptable and family friendly). This web page will be used by ST.E authors to chose which, if any, in-house illustrator they wish to have assigned to their project.
• Will be given specific instructions as to what each illustration will look like. Clarification before the work commences is the artist’s responsibility.
• Will supply ST.E with jpg or png 300x600 pixels of each illustration
• May keep or sell the original artwork
• Must abide by the laws against logo and copyright infringement 
• Will be given by-lines on each book cover, inside the copyright page, and as part of the book marketing platform.
• Will be given a page inside each book - “About the Illustrator”
• Will be featured on the ST.E website’s front page

• An artist who is beginning with ST.E will be paid $200USD for 20 publishable illustrations, and $100 for each additional ten publishable illustrations.
• Fees are set by the house and will be raised according to compliance with the contract, ease of working with the author, and ability to meet deadlines.
• There will be no royalties provided; payment is for the project only
• These fees are paid by the publishing house to the artist; they do not reflect nor confine the artist from charging a different fee for any non-ST.E project. 
• Payment will be in the form of a check as soon as the work is completed and acceptable. 
• ST.E will provide the artist an IRS 1099 tax form each year by Jan. 30
• Illustrators need not be United States citizens, but payment and tax info will be in compliance with the United States IRS.

• Send 10 jpg or png sized 320x480 pixels which reflect your work and use of different media as attachments (not zipped, not share files) to BOOKS.
